Sparkling iolite rondelles in an ombre of blues and clear are strung on white
silk thread, which is closed with a sterling silver lobster or yellow gold fill
clasp. These stones have the lovely mixed blue colors that gives iolite the
name "water sapphire"! If you need tips on sizing your wrist, please let me
know!
Plain blue iolite bracelet is available here:
I searched Etsy high and low for gemstone bracelets that are both 1) strung on
thread so that they drape smoothly and 2) gemstones all the way around. I found
many lovely bracelets, but couldn't find ones that matched my vision. So I
worked to make them myself and share them! I hope you enjoy them.
Rondelles are approx. 3.5 mm.
Care notes:
This bracelet is strung on the silk thread used by professional jewelers to
tie pearl necklaces. It is strong, but must be treated with care. Never wear
your silk-strung bracelet in water, in bed, or while engaged in exercise or
other activity where it might be snagged (doing the dishes, making the bed,
basket-weaving, paint-balling, etc.). Even the most heavy-duty stringing
materials, such as coated wire, will snap if tugged hard, which can easily
happen if you pull your arm away while your bracelet is attached to something
else. In addition, even if the wire used has a snapping point of 40 lbs. (easy
enough to do with your arm, actually), your bracelet will only be as strong as
its weakest point - the rings that hold the wire to the clasp. I have
experimented for months to find the strongest and most beautiful way to make
this particular style; I hope you enjoy it!
Lifetime restringing:
Just as pearls need to be restrung every few years, you may find that you want
your bracelet restrung, especially if you wear it frequently. I am happy to
providing restringing for free - please convo. me and we can make arrangements!
