Lisner Oriental Design Clip on Earrings!

Established in New York in 1904 where it made it’s own good quality unsigned
jewelry and also distributed pieces for others in the 1920’s. It focused on
well made jewelry marked “Lanvin’s Violet”. Before the outbreak of the second
World War Lisner became the US agent for “Elsa Schaparelli” importing and
selling the designers French made jewelry. In addition it had a license to make
her jewelry and accessories in the US.

Introduction of the Lisner signature and the firm’s success in the 1950’s.
After the Lisner signature was introduced in the 1930’s it became more well
known in it’s own right. It used many of the jewelry manufacturers based in
Rhode Island to make its pieces including “Whiting & Davis, known for its metal
mesh purses. Lisner was at its peak in the 1950’s with its colored plastic and
Lucite jewelry.

Use of Lucite, Enamel and Aurora Borealis Crystals, Lisner designed jewelry
around geometric or abstract organic shapes such as flowers. On more expensive
items these crispy molded pieces were combined with colored or clear crystal
rhinestones, often using the popular “Aurora Borealis” rhinestones or exotic
Lava Stones. Lisner designs were set on silver chromed or metal plated bases in
the 1960’s on black “Japanned” metal.

In the late 1950’s and into the 1960’s Lisner produced a range marked
“Richelieu” which was more expensive and of better quality. Lisner used the
“Lisner” mark in block capitals (LISNER)

This pair of Lisner Clip on earrings has an Oriental Design with a Circle in a
Square. They also have worn spots on the front and back (please view the
